Club Ride - November 15, 2008

We had our normal Saturday morning club ride yesterday. We started out with a hearty breakfast before hitting the road northward for Mont Verde, FL.  The ride up was absolutely spectacular and our Club President Glenn or "Gunny" is to be commended for stitching together an awesome network of one- and two-lane backroads. I was so busy enjoying the ride that I forget all about my camera until we had passed the turn-around point. So, these pictures start at the lunch stop and progress toward home.

After all that great riding (and despite having had a full breakfast only three hours earlier) it was time for lunch.  "Gunny" led us to the Somerlake Cafe, somewhere on US 27 near Clermont.

Our line of bikes sure looked good parked outside the cafe:

Boyd and Robert shared a chuckle about something that I'm sure was at my expense. Does that sound paranoid? No! I didn't think so, either:

"Gathered for the feast, they stabbed it with their steely knives...but they just couldn't kill the beast.":

"Gunny" was having trouble with his aim, as evidenced by that overshot of ketchup on the right side of the plate. Good thing this wasn't qualification, huh, Gunny?:

After lunch we took the scenic, twisty, confusing, meandering, bewildering route through Clermont:

Robert was bringing up the rear on his new Harley-Davidson:

Some people just can't resist hamming it up for the camera...glad I'm not one of them!:

Speaking of Robert's new Harley...here he is astride that beast:

We ran back along Green Pond Road, which is always an enjoyable ride:

The one-lane wooden bridge is always a treat:

The Gold Wings (and their riders) were enjoying Green Pond's curves:

I like these stretches of tree-lined roadway:

Reflections...unintended reflections...looks like I need a polarizer for my point-and-shoot, as well:

After Green Pond Road, we hit Hancock Road, which is one of my favorite little stretches of roadway on this trip...it's just too short!:

Look at that beautiful S-curve...and yes, that is an elevation change you are seeing:

Boyd masters Hancock Road:

The last curve on Hancock Road...and yes, it is still running up-hill:

This is how Hancock Road finishes...a small rise to straight-and-level pavement; one-laned, of course!:

I played around a bit with the whole "photo in the mirror" thing.  I have an idea on how to do something neat with this concept, so stay tuned for more:

And with that, the ride was over...after this shot I waved adieu to my brother and rode the last few miles in reflective solitude:
